Dread
by
Amillah Sescon Rodil
I hate this
heavy waiting
that sinks bone-deep
through skin.
It sleeps inside me
denser than dreams
like stones
settling in my hollow places.
Each intake
of breath
opens a cavern.
I try to float
by holding air
But acidic weight dissolves
my inner layers.
I am imbedded in rock
loose, and trembling.
