TINIG
Beyond Our Comfortable Life

YOU KNOW, there's so much more to life than the different shades of the sunset. There's so much more to it than the glass buildings that reflect the light of the dying sun. There's so much more promise in this world than to see cars fly down the road and people in business suits tread back to where they will lay their heads. Yes. There is so much more.

There is a lot of silence and pain that people like us will never know of. People like us who immerse ourselves in the stress that make up our academic or working lives. People like us who surf the Net. Who write. Who read. Who live happy, peaceful, contented lives. We're comfortable—yes. Indeed we are. And we will probably be comfortable for the rest of our lives.

We will always appreciate the dying leaves of the tree. We appreciate the many changes that seasons bring to our lives. We appreciate the stability and security that we will always have food on our tables and clothes on our backs. We appreciate so many things. But we must learn to appreciate more—and do more.

Because there is so much more to life than mere appreciation. So much more than to have an eye for aesthetics. Life is to be lived. To be fought for. To be killed for. Life should not be led passively. It should spark a fire. Create a burning. Conquer a darkness.

Life is more than the silence of the country night. Or the low purr of the city cars. Life is a battle—a battle that most people will never know of.
