i.

a century-old rage burns
from the blades of rusty bolos
and bent bayonets.

ghosts of nameless heroes
marched one noon

from the tunnels of war
to the streets of Manila--

past the traffic where people
intertwined with blue shielded lines;

past the protests;
past the police;

past a storm of fire and lead;

a century-old rage burns.

ii.

where criminals in barong celebrated,
a twisted sister danced nude

of dignity,

sprawled on the floor
of this house of greed,

the fruits of injustice,
the spoils of victory.

iii.

heaven blessed this moment of hell--

rusty blades baptized
the marble floors with filthy blood.

above the carnage of
"bayong-less" traitors,

dead heroes have found rest.
