Because
We are Too Young?
By Hexel Dagooc
I NEVER regard
myself as the man who knows everything. I hate being called "Mr.
Know-It-All" or "Jack of All Trades". Well, maybe
because in the first place I'm not a genius and second, I hate it
when people ask you about this and that and whatever because they
think you know everything.
But then I realized
that even though you're trying to avoid appearing like the-man-who-knows-everything
type, it will always come to a point where you have to say something
or answer some questions.
Because of this,
you will soon become one of the answering machines that people turn
to.
But it's not
always like that, because once the people find out you're just an
eighteen-or-twenty-year-old guy living in a not-so-comfortable home
with no income to support yourself economically, then they would
start telling you that you're too young or still a young man and
you don't have enough experience to wear the title of a walking
Mr. Know-It-All. It's so hard to explain that after you have given
everything you know to these old or so-called mature people as they
claim to be, you'll be ignored, just because you're still young.
Isn't it foolishness
on their part or maybe I am the one who is foolish?
But then, just like the Episode IV title of the Star Wars trilogy,
A New Hope, there is always hope that there'll come a time that
this kind of mentality of the old people will change as more and
more youth voice out their ideas and insights about the past, present
and the future. The youth of today are the ones that will start
to revolt against this attitude.
Let the voices
of the youth be heard and be respected for it is our right.
